Britney Jean Spears was born on 2
December 1981 in Kentwood, Louisiana. As a young child, Britney Spears appeared
in dance revues and church choirs. Backed by her manager, mother Lynne, eight
year-old Britney auditioned for the TV series "The Mickey Mouse Club", but was
too young to participate. However, it led to Spears meeting an agent, and she
trained as a child actor with the Professional Performing Arts School Center.
When 11, Britney presented "The Mickey Mouse Club" with Justin Timberlake and
Christina
Aguilera. Britney Spears broke into the pop world at the end of 1998
with her debut single and album "Baby, One More Time". Her
second album "Oops! I Did It Again"
continued her commercial success. Around the time of her third album, "Britney", Britney Spears
appeared in her debut film "Crossroads", which was
slated by the critics. After a break, Britney Spears returned in 2003, having
announced that she had lost her virginity. Her fourth album, "In The Zone", released at
the end of 2003 featured a collaboration with Madonna, "Me Against The Music". In
2004 Britney managed to get married twice. First she married childhood friend
Jason Alexander in Las Vegas. After just over two days, the marriage was
annulled. Shortly after she became engaged to Kevin Federline, a dancer on her
aborted 2004 tour. They married in September in a private ceremony in Los
Angeles. 2004 had also seen the release of "Toxic". The title track
was accompanied by a raunchy video and raced to number one in the UK. It was
followed by the succesful release of "Everytime". In April 2005
Britney Spears announced that she was pregnant. Kevin Federline had two young
children from his relationship ex-girlfriend Shar Jackson, but in September
2005 Britney's first baby was born - a boy called Preston Michael. "Britney and
Kevin: Chaotic", the reality TV show featuring Britney Spears and Kevin
Federline, started transmission in 2005. |
