Kate Lawler was born on 7 May 1980 in
Beckenham, Kent. She has a twin sister, Karen, who provided the main
encouragement for Kate to enter Channel 4's reality TV show Big Brother. Before
her appearance on Big Brother, Kate Lawler had some experience of the media,
modelling in a hair magazine and appearing on a poster for Ministry of Sound.
Kate also worked in IT Support. In July 2002, Kate Lawler became the first
woman to win Big Brother. After her success in Big Brother 3, Kate Lawler made
a fitness video together with her fitness instructor Rhyidan Lewis. Kate went
onto co-host Channel 4's successor to The Big Breakfast, Rise, with Iain
Lee, but the show was eventually canned. In April 2005 Kate Lawler was one of
the participants in ITV's ill-fated series, Celebrity Wrestling, along
with the likes of Annabel Croft, Michelle Heaton, and Leilani
Dowding. In 2005 Kate Lawler and her boyfriend of almost two years,
footballer Jonathan Woodgate, decided to split up. Kate has increasingly turned
towards DJ-ing, although she remains most interested in a long-term
broadcasting career. In 2006, Kate was a surprise contestant on ITV's Love
